Popular Houston producer Paris Aden starts off the summer on a good note, releasing “19 & Drifting” an instrumental album of her favorite beats, personally, throughout her years of producing. The project, with 11 songs on it, features a variety of just about any genre that you can think of. Starting off from the first track, “Sippin”, I felt like this is the type of beat that you would hear at an EDM festival, like Ultra Music Festival or Tomorrowland. Going on to the next track, “NTS”, this gave me more of a vibe like it belongs on the soundtrack of Midnight Club: Street Racing due to the undertone of the beat sounding like a downer with an overtone of a triumphal type sound.

While I won’t sit here and describe every instrumental track by track, I did want to point out those two descriptions just to show the variation of beats within the project itself. In terms of the sound that Paris Aden wanted to take with the project, it sounds as if she was aiming to make a project that would attract listeners from a plethora of different genres.

In terms of the process that went into making the project, according to Paris, the project came together due to the fact that she felt that it was time for herself to drop a project for the city that was going to shine a light on her ability not only to make good beats, but to be progressive in creating a new sound that’s representative of the upcoming music scene in Houston. Out of curiosity I was able to get into touch with Paris and ask her the inspiration behind the beats that she makes. Her answer? PAIN. But to a higher regard, make sure you check out her project because the fact that I was able to sit and listen through and entire instrumental album should say something in and of itself.
