The Houston music scene has not only become one of the strongest places when it comes to cultural essence of the Lone Star state, but it has been a new epicenter when it comes to versatile images + sounds. The new budding stars of the city has changed the city’s perception and shown what its like to deliver something new to the forefront.

While there have been some who have been in route to national stardom, its others who been scraping the pavement with their own material and setting the stage for themselves. One of these people would be Danny Ayeko, a budding talent that’s going by his own rules and establishing his footing by doing so.

We recently had the pleasure to speak to him about his career path, his upbringing, what makes him different, and more.

Check out the full interview below here.

How’s Your Modern Life?

Fantastic

What are three things you have to do when you first wake up?

Brush my teeth, skin routine and hit the gas.

How would you describe your upbringing?

My upbringing was very strict and to the books, my parents are Nigerian if you know you know.

Growing up in Houston, what were some influential sounds that influence you as time went on?

Back then UGK, Z-RO, Bun B, Slim thug, Mike Jones, Paul Wall was basically all I listened too. Travis Scott, Maxo Kream, shit even BeatKing of course as I got much older. Can’t forget about the Sauce Twinz either.

While Houston may have a historical music scene that folks attached themselves to, where else did you find inspiration when it comes to your sound today?

Lil Uzi/Juice Wrld inspired me to learn how to create melodies. Kid Cudi easily has inspired me throughout my whole life not even with just music. I was jamming Lil Skies heavily when I first started recording. He inspired me to switch up/transition my flows in my verses.

Kanye West is another influence I had growing up and now, he was the main reason I really fell I love with the creation of music and music in general. Wiz, Rocky and Tyler also are huge influences.

Coming up in a scene that’s flowing with a lot of artists who are making headlines nationwide, how do you feel like you differentiate yourself among the growing base of artists in H-Town?

I don’t know to be honest, I’m really just doing me. I’m not focused on how I can be different from the next man, I’m just making music I like and seeing how I can make the next song better.

Seeing your on a consistent roll of content and material, what have been some monumental releases for you in the past year?

Well, I dropped my very first song in March, but Alley Oop with Kam Armstrong just hit a million on Worldstar in a month

In a space where independent artists are thriving, what advantages and disadvantages you feel like you have to face with your artistry?

Biggest advantage to me is the power of the Internet
