If you’ve been following the Modern Life Mag family for quite sometime, you have seen the growth that the magazine has taken over the years. From covering and highlighting some of the brightest talent in Houston and now transitioning into doing events in New York City was a major step, and the “Joke’s On You” solidified that.

April 1st, 2017 was the grand opening and introduction into Modern Life Mag’s collaboration with booming New York-based clothing line Ethik to bring in two brands who are emerging onto the scene in their industries. Cymple featured their first collection that highlighted on creative topics that range from Pharrell’s creativity on the Frontin’ Music Video to the early stardom of the video vixen, Supa Head. The fusion that this brand brought to the forefront instilled a future that’s going to be very bright for them  and soon they’ll have the world hip to their garments.

Joining them that night was budding Chicago graphic designer and artist, ArtbyJeremy. One of the creative nucleuses in the Decent Family, Jeremy shines a light on some of hip hop’s movers and shakers and points a beam at how they’re messages revolutionize the people around them. From crafting pieces based on ASAP Yams, Gucci Mane, Kodak Black, and more, he has garnered the eyes of XXL, Revolt TV, Lil Uzi Vert, and 21 Savage. Bringing him and his crew that night created the perfect balance between threads and art, and gave a vibe that those who attend the pop-up shop can only explain.

Aside from the brands and artists that showcased their work that night, we wanted to give special thanks to our sponsors Insomnia Cookies and Bronx Brewery. These two companies gave visitors the full experience of that night with food and refreshments and having the chance to enjoy both of them in their most comprehensive form. Also thanks to everyone who came out and supported this, this is a huge step for the magazine and it’s great that it was experienced in a way that can’t be duplicated. We at Modern Life Mag are always about the people and it’s great to see that same feeling is reciprocated when they see us doing events like this.

Special shoutouts go to the friends, family, girlfriends, kinfolk, homies, and more who helped with this project and made it come to life, the whole Ethik Family, Matt Garrett for allowing us to collaborate with him on this project, Cymple, ArtbyJeremey, Decent Family, LES, all the press that stopped by and enjoyed the pop-up shop, Dominos Pizza, and all the supporters and friends that showed love. You made this experience what it is. - "Player Coach" Greg Harris
